    PRINTS, MATTING, SHIPMENTS

Printing: After decades of producing darkroom prints, I have moved to using an an Epson 4800, and Epson Ultrachrome K3 pigment inks. I wouldn't have done this unless I believed these prints were every bit as beautiful as my old darkroom prints.

Paper: Crane Museo Silver Rag. This paper is relatively new, and is about as close as you get these days to b&w darkroom prints.

All prints are matted on Westminster bright-white, acid-free board, and include a 4-ply bevel-cut overmat.

For prints that are larger than those shown in the cart, please visit this page: Large Photo Prints.

Prints are not framed, but are matted. Mat sizes are standard frame sizes:
    8" x 10", 11" x 14" and 16" x 20", 20" x 24", 22" x 30" .

    PRINT SIGNING / NUMBERING

Prints are signed and dated, and the "overmat" is also signed, and dated.

LTD (Limited Edition Prints) are numbered, and limited to edition of 100. For example, this print of the Pirate Attack is an 8 x 12 inch print (which is the medium sized print) and is limited to an edition of 100. If this were the 5th print to sell, it would have pencilled on the front of the mat: 5/100, my signature, and the year.

The open editions are exactly the same in terms of materials used. They are also signed and dated, both on the mat, and the front border of the print. Prints are attached to the backing with archival strips. All materials used are archival, meaning they are acid-free and will not yellow. The print can be removed from the mat and transfered to a larger or different colored mat.

Prints are well-packaged. The matted print is shipped in a clear plastic bag, sandwiched between two pieces of heavy-weight corrugated board. If needed for the larger prints it is then placed in a Kraft manila envelope and then into the flat shipping box. Corners are added to further protect the print. Here's an example of how a 16 x 20 print on a 20 x 24 mat is packaged:
