Subscribe in a Reader

I just added this widget so that you can notified via email when a new post is added.  I haven’t tried it yet, but I subscribed so I’ll see how this thing works.  I have to admit, I was surprised to see how many people were viewing this blog in a reader once I made the feedburner feed better (uh, has photos in it for most readers… still not quite right in the Firefox reader) — something like 60 subscribers right now.  I can’t imagine that there are that many people interested in what has mostly been infrared photography the last few months.  But maybe there are.

It’s also down on the right side, bottom of the page.

Wordpress Backup Question

So I’ve gotten responsible and installed a plug-in which backs up the Wordpress database / structure and data. But if I ever had to do a complete re-install (say I wanted to move to another server, or my ISP lost everything) wouldn’t I also have to have all my images saved in their appropriate folder structure as well? It would be hell to have to re-upload each image separately again, and have it listed with the correct “slug” and folder.

It’s not that it’s a big deal to do this, but I was just curious about what it would take to completely backup the current wordpress blog.

btw - Picassa2 - installed yesterday or the day before (I haven’t had it running all the time) is now up to about 50,000 indexed images.  It finished this morning: 53,000 images.  And tons of them are ripe for being deleted.

Wordpress Upgrade?

I just got an email from my ISP that they’re upgrading my account and one of the things they said was:

If you have any databases, they will be upgraded along with your website. During they upgrade, your existing database name and database username will change to include 14970_ before them.

For example, if you have a database “sales” it will now be “14970_sales”. If you have a username “saleslogin”, it will now be “14970_saleslogin”. All database passwords should remain the same.

If you have any applications or scripts that connect to databases, you will need to update your configuration information. This includes things such as WordPress Blogs, Bulletin Boards, Forums, etc.

——— Any wordpress gurus out there that can tell me what exactly I’ll have to reconfigure?
