They're here

The cover reads: "New York, New York" with the dates of the convention and a very poor laser copy of Times Square at Night.  I already missed two photo ops: Act Up did a nude protest outside Madison Square Garden, and a giant banner was unfurled on the Plaza Hotel.

"Drug Free"

Left leg says: "Drug"; right leg says: "Free"

Business has been pretty slow this summer - but in the last week, several substantial orders - each over a hundred cards - have come in for holiday cards.  And all for color digital-captured images.  What the profit will be for all these cards, I haven't calculated  but it is a good sign, considering that they were all based on my sending out sample cards to the potential customers first.  I may have just about recouped the cost for the Rebel body.  Now, if I were smart - I would start adding more card images to that section, and finally open up the Color Prints for Sale section.  But I'm not that smart - i.e. I'm still doing a bunch of grunt work such as making backups - experimenting with custom white balancing etc.

Quotes for the day:

"People have a right to go to the park, and if people go to the park, we'll have the sufficient police presence there to make sure people remain orderly.  The park is open. It's open to all New Yorkers. You need a permit to have a sound device in the park. You need a permit to have a march on city streets. I believe that they'll adhere to the law." Police Commissioner Kelly (yesterday)

Kelly said that  "common sense" would be the criterion used in determining who would be arrested.

"Any fool can make a rule, and any fool will mind it. " - Thoreau

"Under a government which imprisons any unjustly, the true place for a just man is in prison." - Thoreau
"The character inherent in the American people has done all that has been accomplished; and it would have done somewhat more, if the government had not sometimes got in its way." - Thoreau

"An individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for the law." - Martin Luther King

"To argue with a person who has renounced the use of reason is like administering medicine to the dead." - Thomas Paine [This is my personal favorite]

Any man forgets his number spends the night in the box.
Any man loses his spoon spends a night in the box.
Any man playin' grab-ass or fightin' in the building spends a night in the box.
Any man not in his bunk at eight spends a night in the box.
Any man caught smokin' in the prone position in bed spends the night in the box.
Any man with dirty pants on sittin' on the bunks spends a night in the box.
Any man don't bring back his empty pop bottle spends a night in the box.
Any man loud-talkin' spends a night in the box.
You got questions, you come to me...Any man don't keep order spends a night in the box.
