Injured

Flyin' - Pickup Game

I got rid of about 30 rolls of film yesterday - use it in good health Mr. B. My bathroom is now, for the first time in 10 years, free of film developing equipment. I bought two more CF cards; installed a third 120 gig drive in the machine; tested my backup procedures; and discovered that all my Canon equipment (remote controls, flash etc.) work fine with the D-Rebel. Case closed. Off to the brave new world. (Is that Miranda in the Tempest?) - Oh what a brave new world with creatures like this in it? Prospero, at any rate, has cast his spell and I've fallen under it.

NOTE: One other Russian firmware story: after installing the firmware on the Rebel, I eventually noticed that if you press the left cross-arrow on the back, three choices appear on the LCD representing the different focus modes: OS (One Shot), AI (you focus but if the object moves towards or away it will keep focus); and SE (Servo).  So with this set to OS, when I hold the shutter half-down, it locks focus and will not switch at some point to Servo mode.  Fantastic.  That's about all I wanted.

Has anyone been watching the Democratic Convention?  Fascinating, with the country at war - the major networks have decided to give it 3 hours of coverage.  Anyway - you can watch it all day if you want on C-Span without any talking heads giving their opinions.  It is basically a big show.  Sort of like the Academy Awards.  In fact, I think the producer worked on the Academy Awards.  In that vein, I've decided to create my own Convention Awards:

- Best Non-Podium Comment
"Shove it."  I wish that more politicians would say stuff like that.  My Uncle Hy always said shove-it.  Shove it up your *ss.  Blow it out your *ss.  Kiss my *ss.  My whole family was partial to the phrase "shove-it" and I come from a long line of shove-its.  And it worked for them, and I'd like to see more, not less cursing.  Dick Cheney was on the right track (for a change).  I would like to see politicians curse more in public.  Got ideas for other categories, let me know]

- Most Honest Moment
Bill Clinton saying he was jealous of John Edwards.
