That was smart. I shot the party in color (Fuji 800). Dropped the film off at an okay lab and had them make 4 x 6 prints. Job done. Everyone in the family always complains because when I do black and white, they never see the stuff. It's a running joke.
a) Because I never feel like doing family prints and
b) see above.
So -- for sure -- my father's 80th party is coming up -- I can either do XP2 or color -- but to be honest, I think everyone was happier with color for this sort of thing. And the fact that the Elan had the built in flash saved the day for me. I had figured that with 800 film and an f1.4 lens, I'd be okay -- but that wasn't true.
So up pops the little flash -- and surprise -- nice flat lighting -- no red-eye. Pictures ready in a day. Finished. And there's still four rolls of my own b&w stuff sitting in the desk drawer waiting to be processed while I continue to tinker with the site.

On the tinkering front -- I've decided -- for now NOT to use Imatch to produce the web galleries. It has a naming convention that is annoying -- giving pages and images, numbers for names and making it hard for me to figure out what is going on.
Yes, that could be changed by tinkering with their VB script (not with the gallery templates though). And the way it's set up, it wants to put everything in one folder. Other things that are annoying.
On the other hand, as a way of dealing with IPTC data -- excellent. I have already written VB scripts for moving data from one field to another.
