Sir Miles Davis, Woodlawn Cemetery, 2002

When my mother died, the family sat around trying to think up something appropriate and original for her gravestone. I came up with the idea of engraving the first two bars of music from a piece she had written called 'Adele'. I remember sitting at the piano in the Bronx, trying to make sure that I was putting down the right notes (I was the only one in the family that could read music), because if I got the notes wrong, I knew it would be there forever and mom would be plenty angry...

I didn't know that anyone else had come up with a similar idea until I saw this at Woodlawn.

I offer several Bronx photographs as Note Cards here
